im not one of those lazy,good for nothing union members you hear so much about.ive always been a hard working,pride in my craftsmanship,show up to work ready to work kind of guy.a days work for a days pay in a journeyman like manner.i still enjoy my work and i especially like the money and benefits.with the cancer now and a couple of other problems my doctors seem to be in agreement that i will be unable to work for an extended period of time and there is some question as if i will be able to return to my chosen profession.i went ahead and started the paperwork to try to get my social security disability.right now in entitled to about $2600 a month plus my 11 year old would get just under a thousand if approved.if this become a permanent disability i would also be entitled to withdraw money from one of my retirement accounts.i could use that to pay all our bills including the house note,get us a couple of new vehicles and still have a significant amount to reinvest.im also considering a career change so this would give me the opportunity i need to go back to school and try to learn me something that isnt as hard on me as what i do now.
