I just built one with 2x3 studs for handles and a wheel from harbor freight that was $5-$10. It is basically an extended wheelbarrow with slates to hold the load and connect the handles intead of the tub on a wheel barrow. I was going to use 2 wheels to make it sturdier but once i had the frame and had the kids on for a test drive i went with just one. I have yet to put a deer on it but it seems to work well with the tests.

It would be cheaper to buy one outright IMO. I weld and can purchase aluminum square tubing as well as steel tubing. I just found it much more economical to buy one. Considering the time spent on it, you're absolutely right Duck; however the total parts were cheaper than buying one but it's a do-it yourself project and a sense of "a job well done" goes along way with me and everything having to do with deer hunting. Unlike every store bought version I have seen, this thing was designed to have a very low center of gravity and balanced so all your doing is pulling weight instead of pulling weight plus having to balance the thing--and with the bigger wheels it isn't hard to pull.
I have to agree, there is totally different level of feeling when someone asks............"wow, where did you buy that" and you say "I made it" and they say "No kidding, that is great".
Sometimes you just can't buy what you're looking for and have to improvise, the time invested is just that, quality time invested. Most of the time the product is better and will outlast a store bought item x 10.
Great work

I bought a folding cart from Gander. Do not use the clips. I bought some 1/4-20 stainless bolts, lock washers and wing nuts. I tied a small drawstring bag on the cart to keep them in and put them in a ziplock inside the drawstring. One thing about them is leave them outside to get rid of the rubber / oil smell. It took about a year. When I get a deer, I go get the cart and I can strap my stand on top on the way out. It is also easy loading up. I can put one end up to the tailgate and pick up the the end to slide into the truck like an ambulance gurney.

Thats the best looking cart I have ever seen. I bought a cheap one thru sportmans guide and after the deer is gutted you need about 4-5 straps to keep it from sliding through. Not to mention it never stays balanced. I would like to add on to mine and would love to try putting somekind of shocks on it with bicycle tires. Still trying to figure out how.
