My blood pressure is fine, the blood flows when I cut myself.

My nurse practitioner once told me I had "beautiful" blood pressure. \:D I always figured that since I usually went to the doctor from work, it'd be a little high, but it's never been high.

My wife has high blood pressure and takes medication for it. She is also running and exercising to get it down. Supposedly HBP runs in her family, so it was probably a matter of time.

been on bp meds since late 30's . family history can have alot to do with it. I keep it under control now but seems like once they put you on pills they keep you on them.

High blood pressure can be a inherited if the family history is strong enough. My grandmother on my father's side died in her mid 60's of major heat problems. My dad and all his brothers have inherited her heart problems. My dad had his first heart attach at 34 and is 66 now with a long hx. My high blood pressure problems started when I was 30.
Get it checked and get it under control.

High blood pressure is inherited. My Dad and his mother had trouble with it and I found I had it at age 22. My son was told he had high blood pressure when he was 16.

Follow your doctor's advice to keep it under control.

Persistant cough is a side effect of ACE inhibitors which is what Lisinopril is. Had it myself, now on an ARB. Similiar but without the cough.

Essential hypertension as it is called is genetic and common. Diet, weight, and lifestyle (nicotine, caffeine intake) can effect it as well. Then there are some crazy things that can cause it known as Pheochromocytomas which are rare but can cause sudden high BPs.

Good luck and get a blood pressure machine. Check it daily and write it down. Don't trust the ones in a grocery store to be accurate. Take your machine to the doc's office and have them check yours with theirs for correlation.

I take Lisinopril. One tab a day and I am good. No major side effects that I can tell. I will tell you this. Your heart is like a muscle. The high blood pressure really makes it work heart which in turn makes it grow. This leads to long term enlarged heart issues which effect the valves, thickening of the muscle wall and poor blood flow. Keep it down or it will damage your heart. My dad died of a massive heart attack, My mom died at age 66 with an enlarged heart and valve issuea and my brother has the same condition as my mother so I know the heart in and out. Good luck and be smart.
