The Bell UH-1 Iroquois, commonly called the Huey. The Marine Corps has flown the UH-1N model since early 1970's and she has served us well. As we enter into a new era with the UH-1Y please watch our tribute to the Helicopter who made me mad, broke on me, left me stranded, got me drunk, got me free pizza got me home, got me so many more life stories, but most importantly made me a man and saved my life. The "Other Woman" I fell in love with 30 years ago.....

I love the Huey and the sound of the rotors. Got a few hours in them as a passenger when I was with an Attack Avaition Battalion in the MT Army Natl Guard back in 1989, yep they were still flying them back then.

Unicam, Ive got some pics from the gunnery that we did back then. If I can find them, I will post em.

I have more of a crush on helicopters than jets. There's just something about them. My husband has this great footage of an Apache, Huey and Chinook at an airfield in Afghanistan. It is 20 minutes or so, mostly of them refueling, but I can sit and watch that over and over.

I'm weird.

I flew on em in 67-69 and you could always tell em by their unique sound.

Great video, liked the underwater part.

If a UH-1N counts as a Huey, I logged several hundred hours as a passenger in one a long time ago in a country far away. Those cowboy/pirate/ninja/batman crews (mostly Vietnam vets) and their "trusty steeds" never let us down nor left us hanging out to dry. The distinctive sound of those rotor blades will bring a smile to my face for as long as I live. It also brings back the memory of a time when I was young and strong and healthy and my brothers and I were out to save the world...again. Thanks for sharing that and for your service.
