....it got me thinking.
My uncles grew up in Arizona as kids, and were active in Scouts down there. They both made Eagle. Well back in the 60's & 70's, their Scout troops spent a lot of time teaching desert survival...go figure. Part of their survival training was to catch snakes with your hands. Apparently, there just isn't an overabundance of Y-shaped sticks to pin them down with. So all of the kids in the troop were very adept at catching sidewinders and hognoses, and they would cook them at night over the campfire.
Well, Uncle John was out and about nearly 30 years later, and thought he was still a young buck. He reached down to catch a sidewinder when he was about 40, and the thing bit the tar out of him. Nearly killed him.....and the snake lived to bite another guy.
Long story short, you'd better leave them alone.
