Glock 19, Small enough to conceal, big enough to fight with.
If you like 9mm and shoot it well go with 9mm. Handguns in any caliber are terrible fight stoppers.

I carry them for city defense, and I also have a couple of G23's that I sometimes carry. I'm not a 'caliber snob', as long as I have something that will put them down. My training is: shoot your assailant to the ground.

My fishing tacklebox gun is a Glock 21 (45acp) and I strap on a Glock 20 (10mm) when I hunt (or a S&W .44 mag revolver). Since shooting hogs is now illegal, I'll probably just carry the G20 from now on and leave the .44mag at home.

Don't let the Glock naysayers fool ya. There's a reason that 3/4 of the law-enforcement dept's either are carrying or have carried Glocks. And it wasn't because they bid the cheapest...

I too have both the 17 and 19 and have the same experience in shooting the 17 more accurately.

Ruger Alaskan .454, all others pale in comparison, or just get a G27. Small enough to carry everywhere, and big enough to do what you want it for.

If you are wanting to carry the gun all yr long, I would suggest getting something compact that you can slide into your pocket or cargo pockets (shorts)..... A lot of these bigger guns end up hanging out in the glove box (summer-time)... \:\)

I would suggest the .380 ruger LCP or the SW Body Guard .380.

That's my 2 cents... \:\)

I've got a KAHR CW 45 and i think its an excellent carry pistol. Its small enough to conceal very well, recoil isn't as bad as you would think, and a 230 grain Federal Hydroshock will do some serious stoping of whatever you shoot it with. No the ballistics probablly aren't as good as some of your other choices but I didn't get it for sniper type shoots either, it's a close range self defence weapon.

19.

I wasn't comfortable carrying the 17 daily. But if you are it's more accurate. Typically.

Now back to the inevitable, "My caliber is better than yours" argument that never ends.

Have fun! \:\)

Get one that feels good in your hands and positions itself well. Confidence in your weapon to work every time you squeeze the trigger and in your way around that weapon are whats most important. If you go with a Glock make sure you check out the early and late generation weapons, the angle of the grip and the pull of the trigger are much better in the newer generations I think. Good luck finding one you like.
