Our church camp, Smoky Mountain Christian Camp up in Coker Creek, is trying to get a log gymnasium done this summer. It's a great project, but has been hindered by the camp manager's house burning to the ground in late Spring. Unfortunately an accident occured during the construction yesterday evening, injuring the camp manager and one of the adult workers.

Apparently the trusses were being placed and stabilized, but something went wrong and they dominoed onto the two men. From what I understand, the adult worker got a broken nose out of it, but the camp manager has a broken shoulder, broken teeth, broken ribs, and a small laceration to the liver (that seems to be set to heal itself).

It's been a tough year for the folks out there, for sure!

Prayers sent for them and the project. It sounds like it will be a great thing for the kids when it's completed.

The project itself is very cool. They used to have a concrete slab the size of a basketball court, with a 2-story high pole-supported roof, no sides. Whole thing was starting to lean after many years.

The log gym will have garage doors all around to open for ventilation, or can be closed for heating in the winter.

Doesn't look like it will be ready for this camp season!
