I have a question in return. If you are logged off, why would a post count matter? Could be I don't understand exactly what you are saying.

Anytime anybody is logged off then the post count does not work but once you log back on it works. Happens to me on here and other forums I'm on.
Just log on everytime you come here or try to stay logged on if you can.

It has always kept count of every post before when I was logged off and returned. 
When you returned, do you mean you logged back on or just came back on the site WITHOUT logging on?
There has been times when I have had to re-boot my PC and that logged me off most of the forums in which I had to log back on before I could see the "new" post counts since I was last on here.
