a highly abnormal excessive amount to be precise, say 2-3 in a week once he sends you his address
with lots of candy so he has to share it with all his new freinds and drill sergeants

Today will be the start of the biggest adventure of his life so far. Sound like he may be trying to become a MP with the OSUT at Ft Lost in the Woods. Start now to plan to attend his graduation if at all possable it's not that far a drive there from Tennessee. Lots of letters from home, I wouldn't send anything he didn't ask for like candy. That may get him in more trouble that it's worth. He should know in a few weeks what his DS will allow and what he don't.
Now you get to wait for that 2 minute phone call with a address.
Let rollercoaster ride # 2 start....I wish him the best.

Congrats, to him and to you, I went there for my basic training also I remember it like yesterday hes going to have some tuff days ahead and he will ask himself what did I get myself into just support him and remind why he joined!! Basic is lot easier today than it used to be so he will be just fine, great food, if he only had time to eat, great friends if he only had time to talk, once it settles into rythem he will be fine!!
