SAN DIEGO (XETV/CNN) - When U.S. troops killed Osama bin Laden, it brought a sense of closure to a decade-long mission. Now a deep-sea treasure diver has started a mission of his own, wanting to find bin Laden's body, buried at sea.
Bill Warren, 67, wants to set out to find bin Laden's body after Navy Seals lowered his body into the North Arabian Sea.
"I am mainly doing it to prove a point to see if he is really dead," Warren said.
Warren claims he has a good idea where bin Laden's body is located, and said his 180-foot boat is waiting in Western India with high-tech equipment that can point out just about anything in water.
"It's what they found the Titanic with, it's sidescan sonar, and it's very high tech," Warren said.
There's a lot of thought that finding the body in an open ocean will be very difficult, and bin Laden's body may be decomposed beyond recognition.
"The fish can't get at it. It's in a sealed Navy burial bag, zipped up," Warren said. "White canvass rubber lined inside, 200-pounds of weights."
Warren already has plans if he does find the corpse.
"We would photograph, videotape, do a DNA test and then try to figure out what we are going to do with his body after that," he said.
Such an expedition requires hundreds of thousands of dollars, and Warren said he'd have help from investors in Chicago, Scotland and New York, but wouldn't give up the names.
The self-proclaimed expert underwater treasure hunter said there's no treasure that's ever eluded him, and doesn't expect bin Laden's corpse to be the first.
"You can get lucky," Warren said. "There's never been a shipwreck I didn't find."

I have no idea about the process of "burials at sea".
Not sure how deep the water is, not sure how much weight the body took down with it, not sure if it could move with the currents, not really sure about any of it.
What I am sure about is that this would not turn out good, if he found a body or not.
If he did find a body, would he bring it up , unwrap it, and check some dental records to prove the indentity? Does he have any dental records? is there any other way to prove it is really him? They could have buried anyone. Would the government hand over whatever records he might need to ID the body???
If he did not find the body, what will that prove? Can he prove that there never was a body there?
This whole thing is futile and will serve no purpose, no matter what the outcome, imo.
