When someone says that a lease cost x amount per acre and can hunt 5 people does that mean that the amount per acre is split between 5 people? Or is it per person?

Say I found a 1000 acre farm that a group of 5 can lease for $3 an acre. That's $3000/yr. Is that per person or to be split between the 5 people @$600/person? I guess I'm not accustomed to the lingo and was curious because $3/acre for nearly 1000 acres for 1 man seems like something not many folks could afford unless they are single... \:D

i think the lease price per acre is that , no matter how many hunters you have.

You lease the land for $3,000 and if you decide to get four more guys to share the lease, then that's 3000 divided by 5.

If you are a business man and YOu find the land, then get enough people to pay the 3000, so that you hunt free...lol.

That's kinda how I thought it worked. I like the last option the best...

I guess there are some that will/can pay thousands a year for a lease, but I didn't think it was very common.

Thanks

+1

And be sure to always get a written lease agreement. It can save you a world of trouble.

This unless the owner does not want but a certain amount of people on his property . Most land owners vision leasing the property and seeing multitudes of people on his land so most require a number and some do not but landowner rights come first !

I have leased land from .50 an acre to $25 an acre. But the main thing in leasing is not the total acres but the "Usable" acres. For example, we leased 400 acres in IA. The total land amount was almost 1,000 acres. But 600 was in pasture and house and pond-of no value to us for hunting. So we paid for the 400 acres only and sole access to that 400 acres.

Many people don't figure it this way and pay for the entire 1,000 acres even though 600 acres of that is useless. I never did much of it but when leasing for a club-type deal, to figure the number of hunters it will handle, I always used the formula of 100 huntable acres per person. I.e. 600 huntable acres= 6 hunters.
