Has anybody noted the presence/abscence/numbers or turkey poults in W TN this year? I feel but do not know that the turkeys were prob hurt bad down on my farm in the Forked Deer (N Fork) between Yorkville and Central due to flooding, actually 2 yrs in a row now. I would actually be interested in how many young birds were sighted during the season too, as this might indicate last year's damage. I did harvest a jake back there this year but my hunting time was limited due to pressing family matters. Thanks Ray

Don't know about W. TN but the poults are flying here in Mid TN.

Spooked a hen out of a tree last evening walking the dog and 3 mini's flew off with her.

I never thought about it before but I guess poults would roost with the hens as soon as they feathered out.

I would bet most of the first attempt nests in the bottoms around Yorkville area were totally inundated and completely wiped out as the flood was cresting in that area around May 5-10. Some of the hens may have retreated to higher ground and attempted a second clutch with better luck, or not. I have not been in the field in this immediate area but this assessment would be my best guess based on water levels and topo maps. My .02
