There are times when the fish (or you) can be injured in the heat of battle. If that happens they become table fare... but that is VERY rare.


What do they taste like at that size?


Taste the same as little ones... the key is in preparation. From my experience folks who try to eat big fish leave filets too big and thick. Hard to cook them well through and through.

The trick is to filet the filets.... get them down to the size so they're no thicker then a good crappie filet.

Do that and they really won't taste that much different.

Sort of the same as eating an old buck versus a yearling doe... you'll prepare and cook them a little different, but you'll still eat 'em. And do it right they taste just as good.
