The economy. There's nothing wrong with it aside from laziness. Let me explain in vague terms.
I needed an accessory. I found a dealer. I E-Mailed the dealer. Dealer says he can get it for me for $160. I say it's a good price, order it. Two weeks later I E-Mail back and ask if he ordered it for me. No response. Four days later I E-Mail again and ask if we're still doing business. No response.
So I E-Mail another dealer. No response. Called and left message. Nothing.
And another. No response.
Repeat four times with the same result.
I finally broke down and E-Mailed the company which manufactures this product and told them the trouble I'm having with their authorized dealers. We'll see how they handle this.
In short, I'm trying my best to give my money to this company and their associates aren't talking to me. Maybe the big boys will care.
Again, the economy is fine. People are just idiots.
And I'm done.

I took a weed eater into an authorized service center with the same results. It took about 9 months to get it back.

You are right about a lot of people. I've seen it too many times, it's just different today. Honest hard work with long hours are becoming a thing of the past. Today it's just the heck with you, pay me.

Beekeeper -- I did the same thing a few yrs ago. Bought a Troy Built from Lowes and had to take it to a Troy built repair center off Piney Grove rd and he kept that thing nearly a yr!! It still wasnt fixed and broke the day i got it back.

Truth is I would have been fine if someone had said, "Oh, sorry I just got overwhelmed with work and forgot to order it." Mistakes happen. Not a big deal. Go on and get it for me and I'll still buy from you. But being ignored totally just ticks me of. Especially by so many people over the same issue.

Update:
Well that was fast. The factory got back with me in just a few hours and told me they'd ship me the part for $150 including shipping. All I have to do is send them a check and they'll ship it up to me.
Now that's customer service with a good price as well. I feel better now.
