My desktop died. Where is the best place to buy a computer that won't break the bank. Don't need anything fancy, just getting on the web and checking email.

Can't go wrong with a dell..My last 3 computers have been a Dell.Never an issue out of any of them. And when you order them online you can customize them anyway you want.

And can you get a computer without all that added "free" stuff they put on there that clutters everything up? All I need is a basic os(I prefer XP). And does anyone have any opinions on the small computer repair businesses that cleanup and refurbish used computers?

go try best buy, they have pretty good deals every now and then and their Geek Squad will clean it up for you and get all the crap off.

I'm far from a computer guy but my MacBook is great. No issues what so ever in 2years. they cost more going in but worth it in my opinion.

If that is all you plan to do with it, I would go with an IPAD. Bought the wife one in February and she hated it....for about 2 weeks. Her laptop hasn't been powered up in about 3 months now,and the laptop stays home when she goes out of town now.

I bought a Hp Compaq desktop from Wally world for 350 bucks over 2 years ago.I have had zero complaints,just get a good Norton Antivirus and keep the program download and pics to a minimum.I have a new Laptop but my old Hp is still a lot faster and use it more than the new one.

The E-machines at Wally World are pretty good too. About 299.

only thing about IPad as main email source is they dont have flash drive..meand a lot of video wont work, might be an app for it by now though
