I had some holes that the dogs dug and another trench that was left by the electric company in my yard.
I filled them all up yesterday with dirt.

Now I was thinking about trying to get some grass to grow in these spots.

My plan is to water these spots real good then sow some grass seed on the wet dirt then lightly cover the spots with more dirt.

I know this isn't the "right" time to plant grass so I have a few questions.

1) Will covering the spots after I sow the grass help or hurt?

2)Is it a waste of time to cover it lightly since there won't be a "washing" issue?

3) I don't care what type of grass I have, as there are several varieties in the yard now. \:\) What type would stand the best chance of surviving if I plant it now?

4) Would I be better off just leaving it as is and let the surrounding grass take it over?

Thanks.

If the holes are small and its bermuda I would let it fill in on its own. Bermuda speads fast. If its fescue I would wait until fall to sow the repair spots.
