Just got a new pup. 9 week old boxer. So what are my next steps in getting him house trained and to obey a few commands? Whats a good leash? Any other suggestions would be great also. Thanks a bunch.

1st and formost get him vaccinated DHP booster not from TSC or CO-OP get it from a vet. simply because we don't know if thye put the vaccines in the fridge upon arrival when its on the dock and the vaccines are not as good as the ones you can get at a vet, I work at a vet and am a vet assistant. Hope all this helps. As for training its just like a 2 year old kid they will listen you just train them to.

Crate train him and get one of Wolters books. Gun dog Water dog Family Dog.
Excellent step by step training for each stage of his life.

We have two boxers. Ours were crate trained since day 1. Also get him/her to the vet asap for vaccinations. I'd suggest obedience courses. We didn't do it with ours and I get frustrated at how hyper they get when other people come into our house.

Thanks guys. He has been to the vet and had his first and second set of shots. Needs to go back in a couple of weeks. I'm trying to crate train him also. But i'm not sure sure if i'm doing it right. How long should it take to get him crate trained and using the bathroom outside? Thanks for the book recommendation i'll check it out. I'll also check on some obedience courses and see if i can find one in the area. At what age should they go to that? Thanks for the help.
