Can a dog have antihistamines? It seems like every time I have allergy issues, the poor thing itches to death. I am seriously thinking about bathing him in head and shoulders dry scalp shampoo. He has a spot near his tail that is driving him nuts.
Any ideas to get him some relief? It's not fleas, btw.

you can give them half a benadryl .

the base of tail is a prime spot for fleas.

also try giving your pet food with no grains and especially no corn .

Thanks. I just didn't want to hurt him. There are no fleas at all but the skin there is really dry. My poor puppy dog.

may be a form of yeast which can be caused from corn in the food. try a no grain food like blue or blackwood. benadryl is only temporary but will help him stop the scratchin.

Thanks. I will check his food. We switched to beneful in hopes that it would help (and he was getting fat). I wanted to put something on the spot but I am afraid he will get sick from licking it.

I recommend Taste of the Wild dog food. Salmon flavor which has lots of fish oil. I just bought a Doberman and she had really dry skin, flaking and itching. Switched her food to this brand and she's as slick and shiny as a new penny. Works great but it a little pricey. Tractor Supply has it as well as most pet stores but TSC is gonna be some cheaper. Good luck.

My good doggie seems to have the same allergies wife and I do. She sneezes and her eyes itch at the same time ours do. In addition, she also itches. I have been bathing her in Jeanne's some kind of soap. Don't tell Jeanne. Can't tell if it works yet.

your pups needs more fat in its diet. you can also use Mane & Tail Conditioner on the pup after the bath. rub it in and allow to just soak in to hair and skin.

+1 on taste of the wild....feed it to my boxers. Everyone always comments on how well their coat looks.
