In Tipton County, a 60-year-old man died Tuesday after falling in his driveway. John Lemly of Brighton, who was an amputee, fell while exiting his van Monday afternoon.

In Memphis, a spokesperson for the Shelby County Health Department said a 75-year-old woman was found dead in her apartment Monday afternoon.

Dose this happen in other parts of the country and I don't hear about it or is it just something that happens in and around Memphis?

There are about 10 or more people that die every year in Memphis from the heat. I don't ever hear about deaths of people in there home from the heat in my area or anywhere close to me.

I've heard of a lot of folks dying in Chicagoland during the heat too in the past.

That's terrible news for sure, but were they really heat-related?
It just seems like the news reporters are eager to spin it that way. The article said the lady had an AC but it was not on or was not working. Why don't they know which one? Nowhere does it say that she died of heat stroke. And the poor guy who fell in his driveway... Nowhere does it say the cause of death. It could have been a concussion or something. I'm not trying to sound heartless, but I think "heat related" fits the media template.
