Ran across a deal on an older tractor. Anyone know how these old tractors handle small hills while bushhogging?

If it has a live PTO the bush hog will push the tractor off a hill if you ain't real careful

We have one that we use to disk food plots, our garden and bush hog fields bit we don't use it on hills. It is a good tractor for doing what we do with it.

I dont think any of the 8-9n or 601 -801 had live power,,but you can still use them you just have to be careful and know you have to knock the gear shift to neutral to stop,

I had one. You can put something (Im sorry, cant remember what it was called) on the pto to stop it from pushing you around. I know someone on here can tell us what its called.

You can get an over ride slip clutch for the pto. I used to have a 9n . It was a good little tractor, for small jobs. Be careful , the brakes are not real good on them.

We always called them overrunnig clutches. I have them on both of my old Farmalls. The only thing to really look for is they will shorten your PTO driveline by around 5 inches. You need to be shure it dosen't bind when lifting or turning(if your bush hog is a pull behind) and yet still be long enough to work with your other tractors.

Good tractors. Can be picked up for beans. Much better for food plotting than with an atv for a lot cheaper. Get u an over ride clutch if it doesn't have one
