No doubt, that generation of US men are the most deserving of any and all praise in my opinion. My grandfather knew and spoke HIGHLY of many honorable men who made the ultimate sacrifice that day.

For you folks in the CDT zone, Discovery Channel is airing "Surviving D-Day" at 9 this morning. I watched it a couple of nights ago, it's very good.

Forgot what station I was listening to, but this morning they were playing a clip of FDR praying for the troops that were in route to war.

Gives me chills to think about it. If I have time, I'm going to watch Saving Private Ryan tonight.

My grandpa on dads side was there that day, he survived.

Dad has the Thank You letter signed by Ronald Reagan framed and hanging in his office. I believe that letter commerated the 40th anniversary.

Much going on up the road a little ways from here at the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, Va. 10th anniversary of it's opening.
If you ever go near Bedford it is worth a visit.

Been there a couple of times, and bought the book The Bedford Boys during one visit.

America today will not make the kinds of sacrifice made in WWII. Sad but true.

That{Bedford Boys} is a great book! Should be required reading in schools!
