I have been doing some hardcore research over the past few days on booking a self guided hunt with an outfitter in Illinois...I'm green as a gourd when it comes to this, but I know some of ya'll take/taken these kinds of trips before. Right now I have been lookin at Butler Creek Outfitters & Trophy Tracts, both are self-guided 100% fair chase hunting.
Are there any others that some of ya'll may know about that have good reputations and are soley 100% fair chase and self guided??
All input appreciated...Thanks guys

There not self guided but have plenty of good land in Pike, Adams, Brown and Skyler counties. Rates are not bad ether!

For the money you will spend on this, and the fact that you want to take care of yourself 100%; then I would suggest that you consider leasing some land. At least you would get to make more than 1 trip if you were so inclined.

Agreed DIY is the way to go. Too much money for a set of horns.

Ive done it both ways, and leasing, or public land is better for me. Ive gotten permission to bow hunt as well as gun hunt on several private farms, just by looking around and knocking on some doors. I hate to say it, but many outfitters are going to give the repeat customers the prime spots year after year. In fairness, I guess this is the way they make their money, relying on the same repeat clients. Believe me, I have seen and taken several really nice bucks, on public land, and you dont have to go to the golden triangle to do it.
