certainly not optimum, but honestly it doesn't require a lot to kill a deer if you put a bullet in the right spot. It would do the job at shorter ranges if you do yours.

just my opinion, others will disagree

I've heard of people using .40 carbines like the Kel-Tec sub-2000 for deer, but you get a little extra fps with the longer barrel.

Yes it is good enough for deer EVEN through a handgun with a bbl length 4.0 ionches or better.

i have killed a deer with a glock 22 .40 cal. did a fine job.

get in close and put the lead in the right spot it will work.

it's all about bullet placement

I have killed a pile of deer with my .40 caliber.

Furthest has been right at 225 yards.
