I wonder how much tax money the government is getting off this stuff.... I wonder if it is as much as they get off the sale of alcohol? Not anywhere close. These "products" have no additional taxes added to them like alcohol or tobacco
And to think, naturally grown marijuana that is far less potent and dangerous to the body is known as the devil's weed....lol.
Kids are going to do stuff, legal or not. I did it and most here did too even though most here won't admit it.
Do we blame the makers of alcohol when people die in DWI related wrecks?
Don't blame the product or the producers, but more the buyer and user. This one you have to blame the producers and sellers. These products are made speciffically to target users and get around federal regulatsions. Here in Clarksville, you will find them in very few "corner markets". These markets are in the low income, high drug use areas.Without a market, these products go away....
Raise your kids right and hopefully they will not do these things. The ones that do get in to these sort of things will find something else if these type products are not available, like YOUR liquor cabinet.
Sad thing, but true.

United StatesSee also: JWH-018#United States Some compounds within synthetic cannabis (HU-210) are currently scheduled in the USA under federal law while others (JWH-073) have been temporarily scheduled until final determination of their status can be made.[59][60][61][62] The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) considers it to be a "drug of concern",[63] citing "...a surge in emergency-room visits and calls to poison-control centers. Adverse health effects associated with its use include seizures, hallucinations, paranoid behavior, agitation, anxiety, nausea, vomiting, racing heartbeat and elevated blood pressure."[64]
Several states independently passed acts making it illegal under state law, including Kansas in March 2010,[65] Georgia and Alabama in May 2010,[66][67] Tennessee and Missouri in July 2010,[68][69] Louisiana in August 2010, and Mississippi in September 2010. An emergency order was passed in Arkansas in July 2010, banning the sale of synthetic cannabis.[70] In October 2010, the Oregon Board of Pharmacy listed synthetic cannabinoid chemicals on its Schedule 1 of controlled substance, which means that the sale and possession of these substances is illegal under the Oregon Uniform Controlled Substances Act.[71] According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, several other states are also considering legislation, including Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Florida, Indiana, and Ohio.[69] Illinois passed a law on July 27, 2010 banning all synthetic cannabinoids that goes into effect January 1, 2011. Michigan banned synthetic cannabinoids in October 2010[72]
Following cases in Japan involving the use of synthetic cannabis by Navy, Army and Marine Corps personnel resulted in the official banning of it,[73] a punitive general order issued on January 4, 2010 by the Commander Marine Corps Forces, Pacific prohibits the actual or attempted possession, use, sale, distribution or manufacture of synthetic cannabis as well as any derivative, analogue or variant of it.[74] On June 8, 2010, the U.S. Air Force issued a memorandum that banned the possession and use of Spice, or any other mood-altering substance except alcohol or tobacco, among its service members.[75]
On November 24, 2010, the DEA announced that it would make JWH-018, JWH-073, JWH-200, CP-47,497 and cannabicyclohexanol, which are often found in synthetic cannabis, illegal using emergency powers.[76] They will be placed in Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act, within a month of the announcement, and the ban will last for at least a year.[77][78] The temporary ban, for at least a year, came in to effect on March 1, 2011.[79]

Since marijuana is a gateway drug to others, I'm not for making it legal and I can tell BH that I have never tried it. Too easy to get beer where I grew up near the beach...

Ditto, except I did not grow up on the beach. Never tried any type of illegal drug, but I sure have touched and seen alot of it.

It does not depend on the drug, just the personality.
The alcoholic was once a casual drinker, just as the dope head was once the casual weed smoker....casual as in weekends and parties.
I know plenty of alcoholics that say they never did weed or anything other than alcohol.
I know weed smokers that do nothing else, not even the occasional beer or glass of wine.
I know people that smoke a bit of weed every day after work to take the edge off the day, just like the guy that has a drink every day after work when he gets home, before he eats supper.
Nothing wrong with either, imo.
Just as some people are allergic to some things that others are not, some people have highly addictive personalities and others are not. They will get addicted to whatever they have access to. It's just in their nature.
Just because one is legal and the other is not, makes no difference....BOTH are addictive drugs, when in the wrong hands.
Blaming the drug and not the user is simply human nature.....
We all want to blame the other guy.....but the hard truth is that no one makes you buy or use anything. It is your choice.
I've done quite a few different kind of drugs during my experimental years and came to know what each and every one does to you. I had the sense to know which ones I didn't need to be around simply because I liked them too much.
I stuck with beer and weed. I've sense quit both and do not miss either in my life. If I had to choose one to go back to it would be weed (if made legal) because it does far less damage to your body than alcohol and it never gave me any form of a hangover and is really cheap when you are a casual user....
I will say this about weed. I never spent my last dime on weed, but I did on beer. I have written post-dated checks to buy beer midweek or charged beer until I got paid friday. I never did that with weed and could have. I guess that tells you which one I liked the best, or at least the one that had me more addicted...
It's just something about a cold beer after a hot day's work...And the only thing that beats a cold beer is twelve cold beers!
Now, I prefer ice water or a good gatorade..lol.

I agree with a lot of your post except a few points..... Here's one I don't agree with...
("I know people that smoke a bit of weed every day after work to take the edge off the day, just like the guy that has a drink every day after work when he gets home, before he eats supper. Nothing wrong with either, imo.")
One is legal and the other makes the person a criminal.... No different then a poacher who does it for food or for thrills. both are crimes no matter what the reasons are.
P.S. The guys that want to make marijuana legal today will want to make cocaine legal tomorrow.
Don't get me wrong, alcohol causes a lot of problems also if not controlled......
