I wish one of you lived near me. I'm just not real sure about this guy. The neighbor boy (renter- it is his unit) is the one having to deal with him. I told him what you all said. We'll see how it goes this time.

If the evaporator fan isn't running the system will freeze up for sure. This could be caused by a bad relay or fan motor. I see no reason to try another tech, or call him an idiot etc. Geez whaz everyones problem?

Thanks Carlos. I want all the info I can get.I am so out of my element when it comes to HVAC. I just don't want to be taken for a ride on this.

Well I understand your reasoning but from an hvac tech's point we are experiencing record high temps and most companies don't have extra people to send out and second guess things. I know it's hot, sorry about your trouble BD.

It could be the evaporator fan motor is getting hot and kicking off. Most fan motors have a high thermal limit and shut the fan off when it gets above the limit. It usually starts shutting down periodically and eventually the fan will go out completely.
If everything is clean, the capacitors read the correct MFD and the refrigerant charge is good.
It probably needs a new evaporator fan motor. This is basic HVAC and the Tech should be able to pinpoint it when he returns and realizes the relay he installed is good and power is sent to the fan but yet it is not running. The fan will sometimes cool off and start up again, but by then your suction line will be frozen and even the evaporator coil.

We had a similar problem with ours last summer. It turned out to be dirty coils on ours.
