look at the military, with a degree you can go in at a advanced rank. my youngest brother took a 2 yr course in machine work, joined the navy and is doing very well in san diego now. do what you love and the money will follow

I really like the last line. I hope it holds true.

Do what you love and dont look back. This lady probably had a physchatrist appointment after you left. 30K @ 24 is a good start. Build your business and you can pay cash for your own benifits. You have plenty of time to see if this will work. Your only 2 months into it, keep moving forward it takes time to build your business. You will never know what could have happened if you gave up now, give it a chance. In the meantime, keep building your resume and taking any kind of courses you find useful.

First of all good luck.
I know two things.
1) You will be almost 50 before you know it. 2) Doing something you enjoy is worth less money than something you hate.

Stress is going to come whether you love your job, hate your job, make barely enough to pay the cable bill or spend your weekends at the lake house. It isn't called work because it's fishing.
You'll find that there is no easy way to make all the money it takes to be comfortable. Someone is going to pay the price, whether it's you, your wife because you work all of the time or maybe your children that you don't have yet. You'll also find that lots of things change when you have children. What seems important today may not even make the list in a couple of years.
Bottom line is to find a way to be happy most of the time and enjoy the life you live. When things aren't going your way, and they sometimes sucketh, change what you can without worrying yourself to death over the little stuff. Good luck.

Do what makes you happy..... You will normally come out a head in the long run if you enjoy your job... Everything takes time.

Ya know physical therapy sounds pretty good.
First thought though is if your wife has a decent job with benefits and makes enough for you to "get by" then this is the time to try to make the dream come true. If you think your buddy is business man enough to make it work go work at the gym and help him turn it into a chain with you running the second one that opens. Or go back to school while you can, or since you think you can sell seek a sales opportunity. Whole different answer once you have kids but right now putting in a couple of years trying to find the right job for you wont hurt anything.

Another possibility would be Occupational Therapy. There is a big shortage right now & always will be. You'd make a 6 figure income easy & you'd still be helping people get in better shape than they are in.

Man, that sounds like one materialistic woman. Or an incredibly perceptive one.
She's already told you what your wife wants, though you aren't married, AND how to raise your kids! Awesome.
Kids will not look back and judge you as a parent by all the nice things you buy them. Haven't you seen enough posts about spoiled kids whose parents give them the world, but can't seem to teach them the value of hard work? Even a poor man can provide that for his kids.
Sure, you're young and have lots of options, but don't let some gal chasing diamond rings and lake houses push you out of an opportunity to work where you want. Sounds like she's pushing to "help" you with some plan she just happens to sell.
