.......numbness in their arms/hands? I've had this going on for awhile but it seems to be getting worse. It's the worst in my fingers and hands with slight numbness in my forearm. Any suggestions on a good doctor in nashville area I think its time to get it checked out. Im thinking its more of a nerve thing rather than carpel tunnel (sp?).

If it were me, I would see a neurologist rather than an orthopedic doctor. Carpal tunnel will cause all of your symptoms and can even cause elbow pain and 'cricks' in your neck.

I would get a good physical from a general practitioner because it could be several different things.

Question:
How can a person do the same repetitive job for 40 years with no problems...yet another right beside them can do it for 10 years and have CT?

I believe all serious illnesses are in each of us, including cancer.
Some it becomes active and some it doesn't.
I don't know of any farmers in my 45 years that have been diagnosed with skin cancer, yet many get it today?
Some are diagnosed with liver disease, yet have never taken a drink?
I believe we are all born with ALL the bad genes, but it only effects some.

What do yout hink I have been battling for over a year :(. Could be and probably is some form of carpal. Could also be a piching of a bnerve in the neck, probably between C2 and C4. If the thumb and first two fingers are worse, it is probably a pinching of the radial nerve, either in the neck or wrist.
Go to Wally and buy you a pair of gloves that will not allow you to bend your fingers, don't cost much. Sleep with them for a week or so and see if that helps. Often an injection in the neck will also work, sometimes for a few months, sometimes longer, sometimes not at all. You should find that holding youor fingers straight out while massaging the forearm helps.
When the tingling becomes pain and wakes you up screaming at night, then you can join me at Doctor Urban's office of you have good insurance.
Most good doctors can diagnose up to a point. Sooner or later you will see a neurologist or an ortho. and they will schedule an MRI then you will know what it is and can start treating it.
Course, you could just do that first and save a bunch of time and money.

Thanks bowriter! The numbness in the thumb and first two fingers is definatley worse so it sounds like a pinched nerve. I've been going to a chiropractor but the numbness wont go away. As you mentioned the pain does wake me up at night and it comes and goes intermittently in any position.
The chiropractor said I had two compression fractures at the base of my neck when he x-rayed, im sure that's where my problems are coming from. Could you give me your doctor's information?
