Insurance company,Geico, wants to give me 2900 cash and let me keep my sons car for me to fix or sale. Says that is 75% of published book value(3900) of the car or they would pay me the fair market value of the car for this area and total it out.(would not be 3900 may be less or more than 2900.) KKB value is about 3100. Now I called around and got a price of 850 bucks for a salvage sale to a junk yard. So I could walk away with about 3800 bucks. I asked good ol Gecko how much fair market value would be and he would not tell me. Said it would then be totaled because the state has to be notified of that. I think it will cost more than 2900 to fix so I am thinking hard about what to do. Any input is more than welcome. buy the way the adjustor is a real jerk.

I would take what I could get and buy a new car. If it was worth 3100 and they want to give you 2900 and you keep the car to sell or part out. How is that a bad deal.

This thread scares me a little bit. I called Geico today to see if the kid who hit my son last weekend had filed his claim yet, but we don't have enough info for them to track him down. I have to wait until the police report comes in from Sevierville, apparently.
Then me and the Gecko get to play Texas Hold'em, just like you're doing.

I had a wreck (another driver hit me) and his insurance (progressive) was being shady so I ask Geico to handle it. A+++++. They were great. Took care of everything and then went after progressive.
