Watching "Heartbreak Ridge" and it just occured to me.
All these movies you see of military men and women, in bars drinking.....
I know a guy who is a Command Sergeant Major in the TN National Guard and he came by the pre-vous one Friday night a couple years ago and he said he would be a little late because he had to go to the motel and change out of his uniform before he could drink a beer in public.
So, in real life around military bases, do you see military men and women, drinking in bars in uniform?

Never heard that before?
When I was in the Army, everyone drank in uniform on base and off.

We where not allowed to drink while in uniform that was put out by our chain of command.We could buy beer or whisky and take with us home.

In the Marine Corps they frown on drinking in uniform off base, but it does happened a little bit or at least that is the way it was when i was in. Did we go to the E club (enlisted club) and drink in uniform? I believe we could, but i didn't go to the e club much.
I know going any where in your camouflage uniform off base was prohibited.

Come to think of it, I can't recall seeing anyone in uniform drinking in public.

Things have changed alot since then. I have always been told that it is against regulation to drink in uniform, whether that is by Army Regulation or my own chain of command, I really dont know, as Im not a drinker and dont care to research it.
