I saw a Eldorado in town the other day. I would guess it was a early to mid 70's model, rag top, chestnut brown paint with matching top. Very clean. That ride looked like it was 50' long! Told my wife that the only thing missing was a set of LongHorns on the hood.

My dad retired at 62. He was debt free. He and my mother went on a cruise.

Only 7 months after he retired...he died of a heart attack.

Just sayin...spend it don't hoard it for a rainy day, for it may never come!

I can't understand this thinking. I mean I have fun but I definately save so that I don't have to go ask someone for something. Living from paycheck to paycheck puts you one bad day away from needing help.

If I die with money in the bank, I'll hopefully have kids, or my brother or a spouse that will need/appreciate the stability.

X10 on the above post.

There are accounts, I do not touch. I have a comfortable retirement fund, more than enough to creamate me and have a good party and plenty to settle any outstanding bills. That I don't touch. But I also have an account called...well, I can't tell you what I call it but that is my playing money. That pays for hunting and fishing and just plain farting around.

I am truly enjoying retirement. I am staying busy between training to get in shape for my elk hunt and fishing and kicking back some others in the same position, I just have enought ime for reading and writing and driving some folks on here up the wall. Of course, I also have to allocate time for the pool. One of my true joys in life is getting this forum all stirred up. \:\)

I agree BowGuy84. Living on the edge financially is very stressful and can be detrimental to one's health to the point of shortening their life.

Dave Ramsey says it best; 'If you will live like no one else, later you can live like no one else.'

And if I don't live long enough to see the 'later,' I've gone on to to a better lifestyle than anyone can ever expect to have here. \:\)

The smartest move one can make is buy the right kind of life insurance when they are young. As you get older and have fewer responsibilities, you need less, you reduce that expense.

I am almost a poster child for Dave Ramsey.

Hahaaahaa...yeah right!

I'm not leaving my wife and her new boyfriend 500k to celebrate me being gone.

He can work for it like I did!
