This man was 59, a Lt. Col. in the USAF and a Pharmacist. He had been robbed before and having 2 guns at the store says he was knowledgeable in weapons.

All this says to me that he was a mature, smart, educated man.

After firing first shot and robber hits the ground and does not move and second robber runs from store,,,,,,,he should have called 911 and kept first robber in his sight at gunpoint.

To chase second robber away, return to store walking by first robber a second time with back turned to him and retrieve his second weapon. THEN walk around and stand there and fire 5 more shots into unarmed first robber was definitely murder.

By what had transpired in a 45 second time frame, not sure without being there that a life sentence was correct, but from what I know, it seems it may be.

Nobody knows how this teenager of 16 was raised or not raised, his past history or the extent of the two adults who managed to get them to do this.

I personally would NOT deliberately try to kill someone who was NOT a threat at the moment.

Everyone wants to condemn him because he was a criminal and tried to rob the pharmacist.

In the eyes of God, he is/was a sinner the same as each and everyone here.

Jesus died on a cross FOR me while I was STILL a sinner and showered me with His Grace and Mercy.

Since accepting that gift and becoming a Christian, I can do no less than show others that same mercy as much as possible as a Child of God.

The Pharmacist had a right to defend himself and others and did so.

When he returned to the store, that right ended UNTIL he was threatened again.

My thoughts here are same as Nimrod I believe. The robber was a 16 year old that most likely was lost/unsaved and may have never been taught and mentored to by an adult in the right way.

I do not know his past, but I do know he is dead and IF he was lost, is burning in hell right now.

I cannot and will not ever celebrate satan winning another soul !!!!

The justice system is a mess, BUT is the only one we have here on earth.

I am all for defending oneself and had he killed him with first shot or shots, then he did what he had to do.

THAT is not what happened here though.

IF you truly believe that what he did was the ONLY way to ensure his and others safety, then you truly need to stay inside your locked home and remain there.

As a Christian, there are many times when people are killed for their actions and it is justified, but we should NEVER applaud anyone going to hell. NOT if you are truly a Christian.

This whole thing is sad to me.

He was a victim after the last 5 shots.... The first shot got him down which was all that was necessary; the last 5 were just over the top and that's the kind of thing that gives gun owners a bad name.

I have a hard time generating any sympathy for any armed robber. Sorry, just the way it is.

Thing is, it wasn't the armed robber who was shot, it was the unarmed one. On second thought, there was no telling whether he was or wasn't at the time

That's irrelevant. I'll clarify: I have NO sympathy for a thug who is killed as the result of his bad life decisions - regardless of the circumstances.

I don't either. But I also don't think that means that the other guy should be excused or not be held accountable for his actions either..
