Need help with a design

My dad is handicapped and needs a wheelchair to get around any distance. He loves to go to the flea market and to garage sales,there really isn't much else he likes to do other then go to church. The problem is he doesn't have a way to haul his electric wheelchair. He has a small pickup but I haven't figured out a good way that he could get the chair in the back to take it anywhere by himself(here in lies the problem). I have looked at some of the hitch type haulers for his truck,but they are to expensive for someone on a very limited budget.
Does anyone have any ideas or designs to build something to help him get out and be more mobile?

Wal-mart sells a hitch hauler for around $60 and you could have a simple folding ramp built onto the end of it.
