It was baseball size. Broke windshield out of neighbors truck. I still have ice chunks in my yard. I am amazed at natures power.....

Glad everyone is ok, Good luck with farm bureau. Ive been waiting since the tornadoes hit monroe county in march for the adjuster to come to my house. Insurance guy told me that there is normaly 4-5000 claims a week in the entire state, since March they have had 140,000 claims for storm damage. He asked me if I wanted a job because they dont have enough adjusters, to get things done in a timely manner.

Farm bureau has done well with me. A good contractor that has experience with them can usually get a check from them in 10 days or so. I have 3 estimates that I will turn into them before Tuesday... Should have a check for homeowner by 2nd week of June....

If you get an insurance check with you and your mortgage company as payees, don't endorse it before you send it to your mortgage company. They can't do jack with it unless you sign it. If you send it endorsed, they'll deposit it and may want to parcel the funds out like they do on a construction loan. If they want their collateral repaired, they'll endorse the check and send it back to you without trying to play Project Manager from across the country.

I've heard the insurance companies are going to start basing deductibles using a percentage of the home's value instead of $500, $1,000, etc. That's what they do in damage prone areas in other locales. It's coming at some point. I've run across hurricane prone area homes with 8% deductibles and these weren't right on the coast. That would suck quickly.
