I lived in Memphis for three years back in the 1980's while going to graduate school at Memphis State University. I was a little apprehensive about moving to Memphis because of the population mixed but I really go into living there. It really is the nicest large city to live in. Never had a problem but was always packing heat in the event there was trouble. The people were very nice and courteous. I do remember that you were hard-pushed to find an ugly looking girl at Memphis State University. They were all pretty young ladies and very southern (that is a good thing) and they that were not hard to look at.

I agree with Poser on Memphis. As long as you don't go into the hood (which is about 85% of the city) its a fun place to live. Only been here 10 years. It took a little bit more time for it to grow on me.
No disrespect intended, but Collierville ain't Memphis! Your real estate in that area is meant to exclude the normal Memphis crowd. Don't blame you by the way

i have lived and worked in new york city , miami,atlanta,chicago,dallas and jackson wyoming and yes memphis for the majority of my life and i'll give you 1 guess as to which is my favorite

There's been several times I've ventured into Memphis and never carried my sidearm...and never had a problem. But there are some areas I wouldn't go without one.

I am so glad I do not have to go there anymore!! Memphis is a horrible place. Yeah it has a few good spots but man is it a nasty city!!
