99% of the people who fly the Confederate flag don't know anything about the history of it. That's my biggest problem.

This one cracks me up a little. As a Civil War buff I see things a little bit different. I find it a tad funny that a lot of the people in TN fly the CS battle flag as being proud of their "rebel ancestors" when in reality, most of the men in TN fought under the union flag.
But the other facts are even more stunning and are always ignored.
1. Most Confederate soldiers fighting under that flag, never owned a slave. They were fighting for a totally different reason(s). As it was truly dubbed, "rich man's war, poor man's fight".
2. If the blacks want to be mad or offended at somebody or something, they should be mad and offended at THEIR ancestors who sold them TO the slave traders in the first place!! They were the ones reaping the benefits by selling their own people into slavery.
3. I find the term "African American" offensive. It suggests dual citizenship and treason against the United States. I feel that if you are a citizen of the United States, that you are as one body AND SHOULD BE RECOGNIZED AS...AMERICAN.
4. Lincoln gets the credit for being the one who freed the slaves. He did no such thing. The Emancipation Proclamation only freed those slaves in the southern states. It did nothing for the ones up north.
5. And this is the big one. If ANYBODY in this country deserves an apology or retribution for what the white people done to them...it should be the native Americans that were here before anybody else was, and had their people slaughtered, their homes and land taken away, and forced to live on small reservations in "no man's land".
Post of the decade CrowT!! Well said Sir!

When I worked for my dad's concrete/gravel business in the summers in high school (late 1970's), he had a part time driver who usually drove semi's to Chicago and back and just helped my dad out when he needed an extra man. He was a black guy but he always had a huge confederate battle flag on the grill of his truck because he was proud of being from the south. He was about 6'3" and built like an oak tree and always carried a .45, so I don't anybody gave him much grief about it. His living room had a portrait of Martin Luther King on one side of his fireplace mantel and a confederate battle flag on the other side.

Is that a Mason jar full of shine in the background???? Looks like it's only half full to me! OR is it half empty?
I'm an engineer....it's neither. The jar is twice as big as it needs to be.
