Yesterday, tornado development was limited until evening by a strong thermal cap, while supporting upper-level winds did not arrive until later in the day. Today, no cap and strong upper-level winds are already in place. Expect strong storms to begin popping like crazy across MO/AR/IL very soon.

All of West TN (west of KY Lake) is now under a "PDS" tornado watch. PDS means "Particularly Dangerous Situation." PDS watches are only issued when a major tornado outbreak is expected, with powerful, long-track tornadoes.

I was watching the noon news on the local channel and Jim Cantore from Weather Channel is here in Paducah. I guess they except some serious weather this afternoon and tonight.
