I don't recall seeing many dead deer on the side of the road since last fall right before hunting season.
Tonight, in a 21 mile stretch of I-24 through Montgomery Co. I saw 3 dead.
Is it just starting to get to be that time of the year or what?
I hate seeing them dead on the road and not the freezer.

Im seeing them DOR on a regular basis now. Travel to Nashville from Clarksville at least 3 times a week.
My neighbor hit one yesterday morning at 3am. I figured there to be at least $1000 damage, he "totalled" his car that he paid $600 six years ago. Sold it to a scrapper for a couple hundred.

Car-deer collisions peak at two times of the year--November and late May/early June.
The November peak is caused by the rut, and most of the hit deer are bucks.
However, the early summer peak involves primarily does, and is caused by does relocating to find fawning territiories, which can often be miles from their normal range.
