I see nothing wrong, why do some want to make an issue?

it's "racist". I dunno, maybe because there are a lot of racist rednecks who fly it, or because it is thrown in the same barrel with slavery, or whatever. I would fly it if people such as my northern parents wouldn't get a little offended. I love Tennessee, glad I was born and grew up in the south, and proud of it, and to me the confederate flag is about heritage, not hate. I might own one some day... it'll probably happen.

It is just another crutch for the PC folks to hobble around on to get the attention they feel like they deserve. No matter how much crying people do the fact of the matter is the Civil War happened, it was a huge part of American history, and whether the PC people like it or not their family was probably involved some way or another so how does that make them right to judge? To me it is an icon of the south, a south in which I proudly live and the only other flag I will observe beside the one of the Confederacy is the stars and bars of Ole Glory. Come on folks thats why its in the HISTORY books. Rant over. Movin on.

History is History and some people just aren't happy till they have changed averything about American History or Southern culture that they are not happy with. I love my country, I love my Freedom and it just pisses me off when ever some folk wanna go and do away with. Its time for people to stand up for whats right and not take this crap from people wanting to change stuff (history). If you dont like it, then just dont look at it or better yet, LEAVE!! Nothing about it is racist. And anyone that says it is racist is just ignorant!!!!

Ignorance. Plain and simple. People always put down what they don't understand.

Although I went to several high schools, I have always considered the Pineville Rebels, (LA) my home school. We flew a confederate flag and our band dressed in simulated rebel uniforms.
Personally, I never felt any need to have a confederate flag at my house or on my truck or for a bedspread. I also never cared if someone else did.
Things got slow for the pc folks and they decided to go with that. Then, some folks began to feel guilty. They began to think maybe they should feel guilty. They could not recognize that rather than a symbol of a proud group of people, it was an "in your face" gesture of repression.
Horse hockey!
I still don't own one. Still regard slavery as a terrible thing. But I do recognize it for what it was, an economic factor peppered with a few people who sincerely needed killing. The keeping of and trading in, of slaves was and is reprehensible. However, that is not what the confederate flag stood for.
It is now a symbol of litigation.

History books never tell the kids in school that when slaves were being brought into america, It was an american flag being flown on the ships long before the 1860's. Same old thing though country that wins the war writes the history book.
