City firearm Ordinances that are contrary to state laws. Interesting.

Unfortunately, the "conservatives" in the TN Legislature capitulated to the anti-gun lobby, and gave local juristictions the ability to ban guns on public property.

I do not understand Tennessee and their laws..The state has pre-emption laws yet it allows cities to "opt out" when they want too, or find it politically correct. It all adds to confusion in the laws, which of course is another can of worms completely. Homework on this could save many people crimminal charges as laws and ordinances that confuse State Law are actually non enforcable by state law and federal law.

Small town governments are a lot like some of the people on here. They don't like big brother telling them what they can or can't do in their own town. JMHO.

I agree to a point, but its confusing when a city or town changes a State law. This makes it confuing for all involved, especially non locals. If the state makes it a law, then the support was there in the first place to pass that law, why should a city or town be able to change it? Pre-Emption makes it illegal for a town or city to do that, like the hunting in city limits many cities and towns tried to pass laws against it in TN....illegal and unenforcable according to State law and the state told the cities this. Why should any other law be any different, why should any city or town in that state be allowed to "opt out" of certain laws?

I agree. I don't think the cities should be able to deny anyone their constitutional right but I do recognize why they try to do so. It is all politics similar to what is going on with the legislature and TWRC right now.
