While Fiorino may have been within his legal rights, what he did was stupid. Only thing he is doing is inviting trouble with criminals, LEO's, and/or uneasy citizens. imo

The only problem I see with the story is how the police reacted. The police need to learn the law they are supposed to be upholding.

The only people he was inviting trouble from is Over The Top "respect my authority" COPS... i promise you the thugs and criminals will leave him alone.... The cops that stopped and threaten to kill him need to be fired and arrested. It does not matter if we break the law and did not know about a particular law, we are still held accountable. The COPS should be under the same staute... He assualted the guy when he pointed the gun at him and theatened to kill him and he held him against his will.... (Kidnaping). He should be in jail for a very long time.

Those 55% of bad cops give the other 45% a bad name.... it is just getting worse and worse....

Sako, I have to disagree here. While I do agree the LEO's should be held accountable for their actions and those charges are ludicrous and should be dropped immediately, carrying open in a heavily crime ridden neighborhood isn't smart. If a robber goes in to a business and see 4 customers, one who is packing, who do you think the robber will target first?

encore, I have to agree with Sako on this. criminals are cowards and will not strike where they don't know for a fact they have the upper hand. Now, if the criminal has a gun also, he may reveal himself as the criminal he is by just walking up and shooting the threat to his thuggery.

I have carried my firearm openly 5-6 times since receiving my permit in the mail on April 19th. 2 of those times were to the auto parts store haha. I have never had any problems other than a few stares in walmart. I do agree though, concealing is a better option; however, when I am just running to the store and already dressed it is so much easier to throw on a waistband holster.

The only time I OC is (sometimes) when I'm out hunting or doing some labor intensive work.

Around town, it is ill-advised, especially in the Northeast. I do see some people OCing around Memphis and, more times than not, they appear to have ego driven or political reasons for OCing ("I dare you to say something to me" aka that guy carrying the AK47 at Rounder Lake in Nashville a couple of years ago). Drawing unnecessary attention to yourself works against your situational awareness and tactical advantage you may need should you ever need to use your sidearm. Situational awareness is your greatest defense as a armed citizen.

You could make the case that OCing in some public settings is somewhat equivalent to tieing a dead deer to the hood of your truck and parading around town. Obviously, if you live in AK, MT or TX, the local culture is accepting of the visible presence of firearms. In other places it is not. I see no reason to be a Open Carry crusader. if you are that passionate about it, move out of the Northeast.
