I've always wanted some type of device to fire off water balloons at high speed at them. No reason we both shouldn't end up wet.

I feel your pain. Douglas was a beast today between the weekend warriors, party seekers and pre-fishing pros.
Seems not many pros know what the no-wake area at the launch means. Too bad the warden had just left.

I’ve about give up on the lakes during the summer. just way to people these days and half of them don’t know a thing about how to drive a boat. It wouldn’t break my heart if the state started to require a boating license for anyone operating any water craft.

boating safety is required for a certain age. eventually, as those grandfathered in die off, it will be required of everybody.
for a good source of entertainment, go to a popular ramp on a saturday evening and watch the drunk boaters try to load their boats.

my favorite two things are a) the person who has never even beenin a boat let alone operated one trying out a 55k barge b)the guy in a 60ft boat doing 35 mph along the bank oblivious to the main channel

i like to wake board, tube, ski, fish....about any activity on the lake so i cant complain about what people do while on the lake. Its the # of people doing it that i dont like. back when i had my fish-n-ski it seemed there was plenty of room for everybody....Not now.

Floating trotlines and alligators. I'd say what I really think about the bulk of the wakeboarders, jet skiers and drunks on anchored pontoons playing music loud enough to make your ears bleed, but I'd get perma-banned.

Stik, have you ever been to concord ramp and watch all the rich people put in/out of the water with there $85,000 ski boats? My buddy and I fish a tournament out of poland creek but we put in at concord and water track over, its a short tounament, weigh in at like 12:00 but we stick around after just shooting the bull so we can watch all of them unload/load there boats. Its a show sometimes

the funniest thing that I ever saw was many years ago at the Tn. River.
we were on the beach and this hotrodder kept blowing by us in a speed boat, getting closer and closer to us with each pass.
not only was he loud as heck but we knew that he was doing it to piss us off because he never went out of sight , but stayed right there going back and forth...dozens of times.
Finally, he got too close to the shore and 'dry docked" the thing...!
He was running close to wide open and ran up on a sand bar just below the surface....
after we stopped laughing we went out to make sure he was okay and to give him a ride back to shore...not sure how he got the boat out, it was still there when we left that afternoon, with a very large hole in the hull.....lol.
stupid is as stupid does.

There needs to be a ramp etiquette class too.
#1. Prepare your boat for launch in a location that does NOT block any access coming or going to the ramp. (Thats what all those parking spots are for)
#2. See #1 above....that means YOU doofus with the pontoon boat and poodle thats gotta wiggle out a chaloopa on the launching ramp while 6 boats wait on you.
3. Once you get your boat off the trailer, secure it and quickly go park your vehicle. Come back, push off from the dock and sort your cooler of brew, rig up your fishing rods, and yell at your wife. Don't do that crap sitting in your boat while it is on the trailer in the water blocking the ramp.
4.Don't leave your truck and trailer blocking the ramp while you "warm er up" by taking a 20 minute cruise around the lake.
5.If you do #4 above, don't complain if your parking break mysteriously releases and transmission shifts from P to R while you and Gilligan are out for a test cruise Skipper.
6. If you push a wake and screw up someones launch/recovery, they should have the right to empty their bait bucket under your launch vehicle seat.

Well fellas I own a runabout an I am not going to lie...I love to have some fun on that thing skiing/tubing...however I love to fish and respect guys who I see fishing so I will throttle down and go as far around them as I can. Also if I notice alot of bass boats in a area I try to avoid it. We are not all bad, but most can be pretty dumb.

Seriously though... Marine law states that you are responsible for your wake and any harm/damage it may cause.
Saw the GW climb all over a clown for deliberately waking some old dudes fishing. Nearly swamped his jon boat, dumped his tackle box, and put about 3" of water in his boat.
I thought the GW was going to reach down that jokers throat and beat him to death with one of his lungs.
Talked with him (GW) back at the ramp and he filled me in on the law regarding boat wakes. Funny boy was ticketed for multiple offenses to the tune of about $580 (this was back in 1992)
Also saw a guy get nailed for waking a bunch of boat docks with his boat in a Ft.Lauderdale canal. Wasn't a no wake zone but his wake was slamming boats against the docks and causing damage. No idea what that cost him.

I watched a 14 or 15 foot 1980-something boat back down yesterday with 3 people already in it. They blocked the 1st ramp waiting on the driver of the truck... who came up with 3 more people... 7 total. The boat was well overloaded and they had a 2 small children on the boat.
Then they pulled right out from the ramp and started pulling the raft.
People amaze me.
I was trying to load the picture my wife took but photobucket will not come up.... dang it.

i don't really mind the boats, it the jet ski's I hate. There must be some rule written in the paperwork that you must go within 30 yds of a fisherman, regardless if the lake is a mile wide. I hate those b@$tards with a passion that can't be put into words!!!!!!

The lakes are made for everyone to enjoy. Why can't fisherman go elsewhere to fish while people ride their jetskis. Jetskiers deserve to use the lake just as much as fisherman, if not more.

I don't have a problem with anyone using the lake... it's the people who abuse it that I have a problem with.
If you pass by me fishing in a few minutes it's back to smooth water. If you pass by so closely that it washes me up on the bank from 20 foot out, then I would like to smash your head... it's not only the riders that do it, the fishermen are just as guilty. I had a boat come up a narrow cove on me yesterday. They could see me from 200 yards out and they only slowed just enough to make the water have 2 foot swells. Some people don't have enough common sense to have a boat... this boat had one of those nice wraps on it with sponsor names on it. That's sad. I should have called the sponsors and told them just how big of an idiot their "PRO" is.

Okay Rackseeker, please explain why jetskiers "deserve" more of anything on the water than anyone else. I gotta hear this.
Those pleasure boats and 70 mph bass boats will be worthless in a few short years anyway. Silver carp will kill out the idiots soon enough. It will do what TWRA and the police can't.

I was just messin around, trying to get a rise out of a few. I hate it also. I had a fella hit my bassboat with his jetski that got away from him. My boat was tied to the dock while I was backing my truck and trailer down the ramp. He lost control of his watercraft and hit my boat. He took off without saying anything. I thought about running him down but didn't figure it was worth going to jail over. I was hoping to get more tore up with that comment.

I have no problem with them if they go on. The ones that irk me are the ones that want to circle you or make several passes just too mess with you. There are some that think it is funny. I don't think they realize that a Bass Boat with a big motor will out run a Wake Boat.

A 1/2 oz lead weight can get anyones attention. Seen it done and it isn't a pretty site. Keeping your distance keeps people happy. Also my fishing boat makes a 3ft wake. Those pretty wake boats don't look too good bouncing into one another. Everyone needs to learn proper water manners. Esp on the ramps.

Nope, not the main lake. I went to a part of what I was told that was Boone Lake at a park in Bluff City. Actually caught a decent sized rainbow trout from the pier.
I meant smaller lakes like the ones in Shelby Forest, Edmund Orgill, etc. Lakes where only trolling motors are allowed.

that's why my boat rarely gets wet on the area lakes on the weekends. Jet ski's and such is why I sold my boat years ago , way too many nuts on the water !!
you can get away from them below dams and as long as you stay away from the main bodies of the lakes.

If I go fishing on a lake in the summer I go at night or pull into a cove deep and just sit and down some bait. The scenery can be pretty good but its a pain!

I used to go with my buddy a lot on his 24' Mastercraft kneeboarding and wakeboarding, but he and I are also fishermen so we'd always wait til mid-day to go out and come off mid afternoon so that we would be on the water after most of the fisherman had gotten off the water in the mornings and before they came back out for the evening. I wish these dang rich "lake house people" would use that kind of cortousy around here....Or at least quite going back and forth 100 yards from you when you're trying to fish!

my parents are far from rich and live on the lake. the property damage from the wakeboats is substantial. i have found the vast majority of the lack of courtesy is from the boaters.

I can see both sides of this I fish but I also like to play on the lake as well. I choose not to fish on weekends because of all the boat traffic but if I do its early in the morning or late in the evening.

I guess I'm reffering to the ones that only show up in the summer months and raise mortal he!! all summer. Here on Tims Ford the majority of lakefront homes are vacant 80% of the year or more. I'm not hatin on everyone who lives on a lake

I’ve about give up on the lakes during the summer. just way to people these days and half of them don’t know a thing about how to drive a boat. It wouldn’t break my heart if the state started to require a boating license for anyone operating any water craft. I dont work during the summer. The only time I have a hard time is on Sundays and on the Holidays.

It’s not what type of water craft is on the lake, its type the of people driving them. Fishermen are just as bad as jet skies, wake boats, or any others. I’ve personally had more issues with trying to fish and someone in the $30,000 bass boat flies by at 80 mph with no regard for anyone else. Also tournament fishermen are about the worst. It seems that they think since they are in a tournament they should have priority on all fishing spots.

Yea, I can't stand that! Even when I'm in a tourney I don't butt in on someone's fishing spot.

My parents have a house on Center Hill right near Hidden Harbor marina. In the evening when we get off the water I take the golf cart down and watch people pull out. It is better then anything on TV. Saw a guy a few years ago drop a brand new Master Craft on the ramp because he loaded it wrong. Daddy probably wasn't to happy.

Well said. I love to fish but unfortunately right now we have an open bow boat to make momma happy. I would like to thank my buddy at work that calls me alot to fish with him. It is definitely the owner of the boat that is the as$ holes in these situations we are talking about. I have seen wakes from bass boats just as big as the wakeboard boats. As far as damage to property on lake front land I believe it more to due with the big aS$ cabin cruisers or "Fu(k!ng Wave Makers" as we call them on Ft.Loudon. There are people in every sport or activity we do that gives it or the rest of us a bad name.

that's ttrue on the main river channel but my folks live in the fork creek embayment and there are rarely any of the big yachts up there. all the damage is from the wake boats that circle hundreds of times in the embayment.

How many here have been fishing in a small john boat and had some guy in a $40,000 bass boat come flying by almost capsizing you? I know I have.

A 2oz sinker slung just ahead of them would put a damper on that pretty quickly.
alot of people say stuff just like this but I have never seen it happen. And I can tell you one thing, If it would ever happen to me, the jackas$ that did it will be a whooped A$$. I would never drive in a way to make someone do this to me but Im just saying, bottom line, everyone has just as much right as the next guy to use the water, some just do it with more respect then others

What you posted proved my point exactly!
The 2 parties involved would get the chance to talk things over and make some kinda agreement that would prevent this situation from happening again. Hahaha!

i bounced a 7 inch redfin with its 2 sets of treble hooks off the front of a jetski once. my intention was to jerk the SOB off of it.
