Thinking of Moving to TN. How much does your home-boat-truck-etc get taxed? Home being a New Mobile Home.

I live in Murray,Ky and the Taxes here are crazy.I just got a letter saying I have to pay $500 personal property Tax on my Boat even if I dont reg...it and use it.Said All my Trucks will be charged a persoanl porperty Tas as well next yr.

Does TN. charge a personal porperty Tax on mobile Homes- trucks-boats,etc.
I even got Taxed by the city of Murray,Ky., for my home owners insurance/and Boat being on it.

Murray,Ky. also chages a City Sticker fee as well of $50 to $100 to drive if you live with in th ecity Limits.

Just checking to know how TN. Tax works there. any help will be great.

Thanks Guys for the help. Sorry ...didnt know where else to post this.

varies by county

I have a buddy that lives in Houston Co, his tags for his cars were like $28, in Montgomery Co, they are $54, I think I heard in Cheatham there were like $100. Now, I'm operating on some older info, may have changed within last couple years. The cheatham co thing I ain't completely sure if that is accurate.

so far Montgomery does not have an emission inspection and to my knowledge Ive never known about any "city stickers" for luxury crafts/toys

boat stickers are about $27 per year truck tags are $35 here, city & county taxes if you live in the city,my taxes are around $400 per year for property taxes for county,no state income tax, look on the brite side, your hunting lic are cheaper than here, least ways thats what we read \:\) .id be out of there first chance i could if you have a choice, just ck with the county you would move to & see if the savings are enuff to make it worthwhile

some counties have a wheel tax on vehicles that varies by county. general registration is $24. i just registered my boat for 3 years for $36. i have never heard of a personal property tax on vehicles outside of the registration.

bradley county has no wheel tax.
property taxes are not too bad unless you live in the city and then you have city and county taxes. my little 900sqft house in the city has 600.00 worth of property tax per year.
sales tax here is 9.75% which sucks.

personal property tax is charged on my business equipment. i dont think they charge personal property tax on personal use items.?.

all that said we have great fire, ems and police .roads are good too.

Not a lot of difference between Henry & Stewart Co as far as vehicle fees. I live in Stewart.

If you move to Buchanan, you could go back to Murray to shop and pay less sales tax! ;\)

I have a geally good friend at work that used to live in Lynn Grove, KY & now lives in Buchanan, TN. I will ask her.

For several years, my family & I lived in Martin, TN, but moved to Murray, KY a few years back. As far as taxes being any less either place, I think it's a wash. The extra most folks end up paying on sales taxes in TN ends up canceling out the city sticker & vehicle taxes they'd pay in Ky.

Death & taxes are really two things folks just can't avoid.
