"The bill never says anything about banning them. Incandescent bulbs will still be available, they will just have to meet the minimum energy efficency standard." Ahhh the ignorance must be bliss. Ok. How about the gubment requiring a minimum energy efficiency standard of 250 miles per gallon for all pick up trucks? They didn't BAN the trucks....just made them energy efficient. Wake up!
Learn your history before calling anyone else ignorant fish. Just sayin' you might want to do a little checkin' with the example you used.
Someone else mentioned Obama and a lunch at the "white hut". Again this was passed in 2007...When was Obama elected?

Its called corporate welfare, crony capitalism, socialism or a number of other things. None of them good.
Legislating monopoly profits for inferior products all in the name of "saving the planet". When you strip away all the propaganda and marketing what you have left is ...A LIE.
Forcing us to use an inferior product via government fiat PREVENTS innovation. Who in their right mind is going to invest precious money and resources inventing a better more efficient light bulb (or anything else for that matter) if the gubment is going to "outlaw" your product as a political favor to your competition?
SO instead of the consumer having companies continually striving to make a better more efficient lightbulb, you have companies pulling back and moving overseas.

This smells just like the freon crap of a couple of years ago. Government does us a "favor" that just costs more. I don't need help in that regard.

I thought I heard something ridiculous like you wouldn't be able to get 100W incandescent HOWEVER, manufacturing would market 105W or 95W to circumvent the restriction. Something like that.

[quote=Diehard Hunter][quote=fishboy1]"The bill never says anything about banning them. Wake up! I'm amazed at how ignorant and, pro commie, liberals can be. They seem oblivious to the the reality that nobomas anti American policies will hurt them too. The lamps WILL be banned eventually. It's already happening in Cal.
The restrictions on incandescents will be so extreme that none will be able to pass them. It's the same with the cafe standards on trucks and cars. They will keep raising the mileage requirements until we can no longer get the vehicles we want. They want us all driving Pi$$ ant cars, and paying $50 for lamps.
This has nothing to do with saving money ,or energy. It is all about power, control, and wealth redistribution. Noboma even promised this ,but it just doesn't seem to sink into liberal heads.
LOS ANGELES — The brightest bulb in most homes for more than a century is fading toward darkness this year as California turns out the light on the century-old incandescent.
Beginning Jan. 1, the state began phasing out certain energy-sucking bulbs, federal standards the rest of the country will enact next year.
Manufacturers will no longer make the traditional 100-watt bulb and stores will eventually sell out of current supplies. Consumers will have to choose from more efficient bulbs that use no more than 72 watts, including halogen incandescents, compact fluorescents and light-emitting diode, or LED, bulbs. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/01/24/california-incandescent-l_n_813093.html
And, from a liberal rag no less.
