30/06 all the way. I love mine. The mossberg 100atr is a great gun. all 3 of my nephews have one. 2 have it in a 30/06 and the other has it in a 308. All are tack driving guns. I personally sighted in all 3. the 308 is touching bullet holes at 100yards and my middle nephew has shot deer at ranges I would probably think twice at shooting at. cant beat the price of them either

both are good choices i like them both but tend to lean toward my 270 since its left handed
for hogs i might lean toward the 30-06 because you can get factory loads up to 220 grain

Moose being the only possible exception. Mr. hale made the gun for me close to 30 years ago and it is still knocking them down. I like the versatility of loading up and down.

Shoot whatever you want.

Got a buddy in Maine that has dropped about a dozen moose over the years with a 270, and there is really no difference in the 270 or a .308. I would not hesitate to shoot a moose with my 7mm-08 with an adequate bullet within 200 yards. Go kill a moose with that fine rifle of yours!

I did....then I erased it and typed in the Barrett .50

My deer rifle is a 1979 Marlin .30-30

Then again, the longest shot I anticipate taking is about 70 yards.

Either one is fine.

I reload all my ammo, and favor the .270, nut it's my personal preference.

Don't overlook the .308, if you don't plan on reloading.
