Greg Matthews is schedule to begin his stem cell transplant tomorrow, May 16, at the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Illinois. He had his stem cells removed 2 weeks ago...enough for 2 transplants, if for some reason the first doesn't work. He will be receiving massive dosage of chemos on Mon & Tues to kill out his immune system prior to receiving his stem cells. I think I have the process correct, if not I'm sure there are medical personnel on here who can correct me if needed. Drs are saying he will be there for 4-6 weeks, and then will need another 6-8 weeks of recovery. He is going out to California after his hospital stay to be with his girlfriend and her family during his recovery. Greg is strong and has a great outlook.
