I have been looking for a new truck. Not wanting to spend a ton of money. Have seen a few Wranglers in my price range. What do you jeep owners think about say a 97-2001 wrangler as a daily driver? Give me some pros and cons. I will be driving 25 miles one way to work. Pull a 10ft trailer with my mower on it around town but never far. Looking at some 6 cylinder 5 speeds.

I have a 99 as a weekend and love it BUT it sucks the gas and with any lift mod its a pain in the Azz to get in and out of. Not best to trailer with either. JMO

I bought one as a street daily driver, but sold it to Whelan Man after a year and a half or so. -20 mpg did not excite me, and it was a 4-cylinder.

I have a 95 and love it but would not like it as a daily driver.

I get about 18 with mine, as a daily driver it is not too bad since i only drive about 15-20 miles a day, I keep the top down on mine and only really drive it on nice days. pulling a trailer sucks, matter of fact pulling anything with it sucks. i do not like hunting out of it, i take way too much stuff with me and feel crowded.

Wranglers do suck the gas. Not to mention if you ever want to go on long trips, I'd suggest getting a rental car.

I had an '04 Rubicon and an '04 F150 at the same time. The F150 was my DD and Jeep was weekend toy. Someone hit my F150 and an 8 month old truck went from $43K to $21,800. Needless to say after that kind of hit the Jeep became my DD. What was a blast to put around in and go 4 wheeling in was a huge pain going to work 25 miles one way. About 15 of those miles were interstate. It was bone stock, but the Rubicon had a bit bigger and more aggressive tires.
That lasted maybe a month and it got traded in on another truck. As far as gas mileage, it's a brick on wheels.
