Was up that way a few years ago on Army business. We stayed south of Dulles so had to take the subway in. No problems getting around that way.

There is an annex to the Smithsonian air museum that is a bit out of the way and a gun museum up that way, wish I could remember the name of it, easily spent half a day in there. Well worth your time for the side trip.

If you can, plan 2-4 days for visiting the museums, lots to see and do.

The A&S annex is the Udvar Hazy Center (or something similar) on the south side of Dulles. Went there in 2004 specifically to see the Enola Gay. They also have an SR-71, Concorde, Space Shuttle, and another hundred or so aircraft.

We'll be there in mid-June. Someone told me the Newseum is a must-see. I've already seen some of the major things, but will have to do them since this is the wifes first trip.

I have a connection and could probably get you a great price at the Wyndham resort there if its not full.

Parking is almost always available along the Potomac River between the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials; PM me if you want details.

I've been twice and we park along the Potomac as close as we cant get to the Lincoln Memorial. Then we catch the tram at the Lincoln Memorial. That tram will carry you all over DC. Call your US State Rep. and see if they can get you a tour of the Capitol building. They can also get you tickets to the Washington Monument. I would also suggest going to Arlington Cemetery to see the changing of the guards at tomb of the unknown soldier.
