in some cases the tax on a phone line are as much as the phone line .
the money the federal govt collects on taxes will never be enough to cover their stupidity .

Raise taxes on the Oil companies so they can raise the price of gas even more because you are mad about the high price of gas.
How freaking stupid is THAT?

There is still a tax being collected monthly for wiring schools for the internet. It's on phone and cable service. This was Al Gore's pet tax wallet termite that will be in effect forever. Here's to Al's neck and a phone cord finding themselves together, alone.

FYI, I own my own business, matter of fact.....two of them. Also, have my own s-corp, of which I am president.......don't pay much; but, hey, I got the title and I HAVE a US/Tennessee Birth Certificate. LOL
You fellers are missing MY point altogether. The price of gas, no matter WHO is responsible, is ridiculous and is a burden that is holding this country BACK!!!!
Ya'll can defend Big oil, tax breaks, and the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT itself for all I care! The fact is, until this country GETS BACK ON IT'S FEET AND HEADED IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION, WE WILL ALL SUFFER!!!! Unless, of course, you can ride a BICYCLE to work; or, better yet, you actually work for BIG OIL OR THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, and you have your vehicle/gas PAID for you!
Listen, in all seriousness, this ain't the POLITICAL FORUM! I can't speak for everybody here, but, I have eyes! I know what is hurting my little rural businesses, and it ain't DEMOCRATS, nor REPUBLICANS,......it's the high cost of getting by!!!!! We have GOT to start listening to our people, AMERICAN PEOPLE, and the concerns, the dayum PROBLEMS that WE have!!!!! Stop these attacks and LISTEN for a change! My thoughts ARE NOT politically motivated, they ARE based on common sense. Why can't ya'll get THAT? IMO, EVERYTHING is gonna have to get cheaper......before it get's BETTER!

Unfortunately most of the real ugly problems in America can be traced back to politics and policy.
Im with you. Until the American people wake up, EDUCATE THEMSELVES and demand accountability from our ELECTED SERVANTS, we will have more and more government policy that steals our money and rights.
Blindly complaining or asking that "something be done" is an excellent way to become a pawn of the power hungry.
Yes. Something needs to be done, but the RIGHT something.
That is where we must all educate ourselves beyond the headlines and seek truth.

You just said EVERYTHING will have to get CHEAPER before it gets better.
There is only one way EVERYTHING can get cheaper at the same time for Americans, it's for the US DOLLAR to INCREASE in vaule. When the US Dollar goes up against all other currencies everything is cheaper for Americans.
The bad, or good news for some business, is today it's CHEAPER for other countries to buy from the USA than it is for Americans to buy from them.
Big companies are starting to move their factories back to the USA. NOT that they want to help or anything but their accountants see the writting on the wall. Right now and in the forseeable future it will be CHEAPER to build things in the USA than it will be in China or any other country. Everybody goes to where the money is, everybody.

Plus the price of oil itself which is what goes up and down. Also the service stations, about 85% of all stations in the USA are private owned and they have to make money too. That incules all the big name brands, they are also private owned.
