Let's all review the 1970's for government price controls. There isn't a magic fix that will do anything. We could nuke China and India to instantly cut the world's oil consumption, but that might be frowned upon by some.

Until such time as many of our elected idgits get over their own self importance and we start drilling and refining HERE it's a non-issue{price of oil}.

Sorry but that's another thing people mis-understand.

The price of oil will ALWAYS be an issue. It's a commodity and is bid on the open market worldwide.

The one way more drilling and refining will help drop the price of oil is there WILL BE MORE SUPPLY.

Opening drilling and more refineries HERE will force the oil prices down not only here but worldwide. The prices will drop in England, China, Mexico, etc, because of more supply.

All I know is when oil goes up they jump the price 10 cents at a time but when oil drops they slowly inch it down pennies if at all.

Oh, come on. We can't use our own resources. The possibility of an environmental disaster more than outweighs the advantages of being self sufficient. Just the image of oil coated beaches, heck, whole coastal towns being under six inches of oil goo! Waterlines pumping oil instead of potable water to our schools and, and, and oil-slick roads...we'll all crash into each other...I gotta go hide!!!

In all honesty, can anyone imagine our politicians/EPA getting the opportunity to have control of the oil industry if we could be self sufficient? That alone is more scary than anything OPEC has done to date. We'd have more armchair oil barrons than we could count.

stop the support and let them duke it out on competition. prices will go up but things will adjust. they are making record profits, i am sick of it so quit giving them my tax dollars. maybe the profits will be cut in half and we all will still say that the profit they make is rediculous!
