Pretty sure hogs can be hunted year round w/o a license even, as long as you're on the list of a landowner. Haven't read up on the WMA's.

I dont think its proposed. My understanding is that the TWRA just went ahead and did it, its already passed. Thats the answer I got in the TWRA forum. It still has to be finalized on May 19 & 20... So it might be a good idea to call our commisioners and let them know how we feel about it and show up at the meeting to voice our opinions cant hurt,it might change thier minds... All of the other changes will be voted on and finalized May 19th & 20th. The changes on the hogs are already a done deal. There will be modifications and changes as time goes on,but other than that it has already been voted in from my understanding. Looks like they pulled one on us if its already a done deal They pulled one on us on this deal. Just wait til Farm Bureau, USDA decides they want some other animal gone, like deer. Yea thats my point exactly if they can take one privlige away they are sure to take more. Deer are responsible for thousands of vehicle accidents resulting in millions of dollars paid out by insurance companies each year and they even cause human casualties. Seems to me the insurance companies have the have the same right to want deer eradicated from Tn. to save them money and the lives of people harmed in these accidents. If we don't stick together now we may be all sitting at home watching tv in the fall instead of enjoying the outdoors.
got me thinking a bit.
At which point do you draw the line between eradicating all animals that cause harm or damage to us, and letting the animals go because they have a right to their habitat too? We can't just go kill everything that gets in our way, yet we also can't just let them completely reign and eat all our crops, overrun our roads, etc.
I hope the TWRC/TWRA has some common sense in this area. We do have a right to hunt the animals, especially if they are causing damage in my opinion.

It all has to do with hogs falling under a non native species classification, therefore removing them from any effort to provide a sustainable type game managment practice for them as far as sport hunting is concerned. THAT is where the line has been drawn.

That makes sense, their being non-native and all. I still say open them to all types of taking by anybody... trapping, shooting, you name it, by any hunters and not just landowners or state personnel or exterminators.

I agree,...
...But TWRA has made up thier minds that the group with the most vested intrest in the keeping hog numbers up or even expanding in tennesse is the dog hunters....and it appears that TWRA is determined to remove any incintive for anyone to promote the hogs expantion in the name of sport hunting in any fashion what so ever....
